Me and my enterpreneurship.....

First it was the service industry - tried once - failed miserably- and that was almost 8 years back

Then again in the service industry - still surviving til now...

Next, it's another idea for a fashion boutique - didnt materialise because hubby thinks it's not viable and wont be a long term profitable investment

Now, it's finally happening! (fingers and toes and all things crossed) and I hope it'll be smooth sailing!
....still in the midst of getting all the paperwork and documents done; and at the same time getting myself prepared for the big bang next month!

....stay tuned for more updates *wink*

yea......a teaser indeed... ;)

Legacy???

You might have noticed by now that I'm suddenly so updated in my posting for my blog after a 6 month long hiatus. Well, I've had thoughts for the last few weeks that I might as well keep my blog active and updated again for my self-reading pleasure and well.....some of you might have a good laugh at this.....I can have leave behind a so-called legacy when I'm dead and gone one day. At least my children, friends and family members can still visit my blog from time to time to read on what I left behind and have some memories of me?? perhaps? hehe...I'll leave it to you to perceive it your way....

Anyway, speaking of legacy, hubby and I went for Michael Jackson "This Is It" movie last night - the final day of showing in cinemas worldwide (apparently) and boy were we mesmerized by the man himself! He was almost 51 and he could still do his stunts he did 30 years back! And he blended so well with his backup dancers who are like probably 30 years younger than him?

It was indeed worth every minute, cents and effort we had to catch the man ALIVE in that movie. Afterall it's the last piece and video captures of him alive before his untimely death in June this year. Some of the clips shown were the ones taken less than 24hrs before he was found dead! Somehow, someway we still have unbelievable feeling that the man is actually dead and gone! He looked so energetic and healthy in the video that it's just hard to believe that he died the next day!

I actually had tears in my eyes watching the man so intense in his performance that I wish all this was still a joke and that he'd jump out from the screen and tell us that the whole movie was just a snippets of his much-antcipated concert and that he is still very much alive and look forward to his performance live in London! Boy! it's been 5 months since he died and I still find it difficult to accept that MJ is gone forever.....

Kenny Ortega, the director for MJ's supposingly comeback concert did the perfect job in the movie by having some clips edited and made into such an amazing piece of artwork by the great King of Pop. It was indeed a movie filled with emotions, both happy and sorrow to see the man himself so involved in the making of what was to become his greatest masterpiece of all. He was so hands-on in his involvement with the crew and all that one would say that he's a true perfectionist when it comes to his profession - all in one objective - to bring out the best for his fans and the enjoyment in his passion for music.

It's such a waste that MJ didnt live long enough to prove it to the world that he deserves all the honour bestowed upon him and that he IS indeed the KING of the Pop the world might not be able to find a replacement for. But then he definitely left behind a very much cherished legacy and memories to his fans that will not be forgotten in a long long time to come akin to the greats of Elvis Presley, John Lennon, etc...

That man could finally rest in peace now and May God Bless his Soul.....

MJ; you are gone too soon, but definitely not loved and remembered too late. Love you forever........

Will Writing

Hubby and I met a will writer last night.
We were briefed the importance of will writing and the procedures on how to go about in having our wills written and how it could benefit our children when we passed on. It was indeed a very depressing topic but an enlightening one as well.
We knew much earlier on on the importance of having a will but we never put it into action until recently. Well, we were procrastinating about this whole issue for more than a year when I finally put my foot down to hubby one day and insisted to him that we MUST have our wills written as soon as possible. Hence the meeting with Mr Chong, our appointed will writer.
Do you know that 90% of Malaysians still do not have their wills written? In a recent report in the media, there are more than RM400 billions of frozen assets with the government resulted from people who died without their wills written. This is indeed alarming considering the younger generations are more and more educated and should know the importance of having their wills written. I don't have to go further on how useful and important it is to have our wills written because everyone knows the benefit of it BUT not everyone is willing to take the next step of putting it into proper documentations.
Do you also know that it could take up to10 years or more to finally get all documentations done to have access to the properties of your dead loved ones if they do now have a will? All this could be avoided if you are rational enough to put a peace of mind of your loved ones with a will you leave behind when you are dead.
But then again, most people think that only the rich and wealthy should have their wills written. This is such a wrong perception and this must change immediately. Have you ever wondered:
  • who will have the rights and authority to access to your bank account in the event of your death? you might not have loads and loads of money in your bank account but it is still vital to appoint an executor to have an access to them and to see that everything is in proper arrangement
  • who will be the executor to your loans and debts when you are gone?
  • who will take care of your young children should you leave them suddenly? will they be in good hands? will they be able to further their education with the money you've left for them?
  • who will continue your business operations when you die?

Well, I've had this thought running in my mind for as long as I remember since I started a family. Therefore I took the next sensible action of having my wills written in black and white to ensure that my family, especially my children's welfare is well taken care of should I leave this world one day. At least when I look at them from whereever I may be after I've left the universe, I can be rest assured that they are in good capable hands of my appointed trustee and guardians and then only I could rest in peace~

So, I'd advice my friends and family to seriously consider having your wills written for this is the only way you can be assured that your loved ones are well taken care of when you are gone.

Consider; write a will today....

In Laws....

I dont know if it's a sign/message or what..just yesterday it was reported in The Star that problems with in-laws is the #1 cause of most divorce cases in the country. I didnt think much about it cos afterall, it was reported that this applies to most Malay families where the in-laws like to interfere with the lives of the married couples, especially those who live together. I'm thankful, really really, extremely thankful in a way that I do not live with my in-laws.......otherwise I wouldnt dare imagine if I'll be part of the statistic reported......*touch wood*

To me, in-laws will always remain as in-laws/ or a meaner way to call them - outsiders...they are called 'in-laws' for apparrent reason - family recognised by the law. However, I have to admit that I do not have any major problems with my in-laws, neither do they come from hell...thank goodness for those...but then again.....I shall not say further.....Life is good so far.....

Anyway, as I was reading the May 2009 issue of Reader's Digest this afternoon, I came across this ......

13 THINGS YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW WON'T TELL YOU
...my response to each statement in red. Bear in mind, it's not directed to any person in particular, just my response in general....
1. I spent a couple of decades being the leading lady; now I have a character role. It hurts to be downsized
you are being sensitive. who in the world downsize you?
2. I know he's your husband now, but he's still my son
I very well know that too. That's why you are my mother-in-law. No husband, no mother-in-law
3. You don't seem very confident about yourself. The littlest comment from me is taken as a criticisim, so I'm very careful what I say around you.
Please continue being careful of what you say then.....volcanos won't erupt if you continue being careful.....
4. Every year, I send you a birthday present, but you never even pick up the phone to thank me.
That's because you probably didnt thank me too....
5. We mothers say to our children, "I want you to be happy." And we mean that. What we don't say is "But I would like to be happy too."
Aren't you happy that your son found his life-partner? And please be direct. Tell your children you want to be happy, just like them too.
6. I've bought and sold 13 houses in my life. Why won't you ask for my advice?
Well, your experience 50 years ago might be different from today's. Thanks anyway. Shall go to you for advice if required.
7. When I visit you, I'm not coming for a white-glove inspection. I just want to see the family.
Argh...admit it. You are in for a spot-check! You just do it discreetly.
8. When I really want to talk to my son privately, I don't call your house. I call his mobile phone.
Good! Keep it that way.
9. I'm so happy that you allow my son - your husband - to visit me on Mother's Day. I'm truly appreciative.
That's because I have a mother too. And I'm a mother myself. I know how that feels....
10. My dirty little secret: I'm afraid that if I don't get this right, you'll cut me off.
So make sure you ALWAYS get it right!
11. I'm in competition with your mother. She takes you on vacations every year and buys things I can't afford.
That's because SHE's MY mother.
12. Whenever I stay at your house, you always have my room ready, my towels, everything. You do all the right things. I'm lucky to have you!
Then why can't you just open your mouth and tell? We will be happier and feel appreciated.
13. I cherish the refrigerator magnet you gave me. "Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill."
Good that you know how to...

Why Why Why?

  • Why are there ppl who are just so bossy that they cant leave other ppl's life alone?
  • Why are there ppl who just like being envious to whatever others have and not be content with what they have themselves instead?
  • Why do some ppl just like hanging around asking questions about other ppl's life?
  • Why cant some ppl leave others alone to live their own lives and not asking too many personal questions, esp monetary matters?
  • Why must ppl be so engrossed with other ppl's life that they forgot to reflect on theirs and be thankful for their own lives?
  • Why is it that certain ppl just like harassing weaker ppl thinking that they will not retaliate and make them eat their own words?
  • Why is it that some ppl just think that because they have contributed to other ppl's life that they have the right to question them in and out, up and down, left, right and centre?
  • Why is it that ppl can become so jealous and envious of others' life that they go around gossiping, making false statements and telling tales around?
  • Why must the weaker souls bow to the supreme ones and be trampled by them?
  • Why isnt there any justice for the unfortunate souls who obviously didnt wish for the misfortune that befell on them?
  • Why do some ppl help others voluntarily at first and then expect much much gratitude in return much later?
  • Why must we be answerable to others on the decision we make in our lives?
  • Why cant these ppl leave others alone to get on with their lives?

WHY WHY WHY???????????

Sad...

The headline read "My Baby"........a huge picture of a devoted father giving his baby a final kiss goodbye...... That 'baby' is 8-year old Nurin Jaslin whose disappearance made hot news in the media since last month and with the recent discovery of her naked and brutally murdered body found in a sportsbag, made even hotter news to the nation. And to know how her parents twice denied identifying her as their daughter made it an even bitter pill to swallow.

My heart goes out to Nurin's parents for their anguish and pain. Words cannot describe how I feel for them for as a mother, I dread to think how I'd accept the way my child is being treated that way.

The whole nation cried along with Nurin's parents upon the discovery of her tragic death. I had tears inside me too for I could feel how the parents must have felt upon seeing their innocent, beautiful daughter being brutally tortured and killed in such manner. And how her body was discovered too! Poor Nurin's body was found in such a dignity-less way that even a stranger will find it difficult to accept the manner in which her body was positioned.

I can write thousands of words to describe my anger towards those who did that to her and I just hope that that person will be brought to justice soon. In the manner of which Nurin was treated....if not.....100 times worse than the way Nurin died!

We can all just wish and pray harder that the culprit be caught so that Nurin will rest in peace in heaven knowing that justice has been brought upon her tormentor!

Malaysian Police......Time to buck up and prove it to us that you deserve what you are being paid for!

Nurin Jaslin - May you find peace and solace in heaven. You are finally free from all those torture you've been put through and May God continue His kind and merciful blessings upon you~

There will always be candles lit for you in our hearts....

China Chinese

Received a call from Rachel from NY and she was complaining to me how badly behaved those Chinese are in New York! Her colleague even claimed that he actually saw a woman stripping down her pants and shat (yes! pang sai!) right in front of his eyes! It could be exaggerated but then again, why would someone said such thing if it didnt happen?
Spitting, picking their noses and talking out loud have been the most common bad habits of Chinese people seen around the world. They are just that bad mannered and they carry these habits with them wherever they go! And it's not only found in China but everywhere in the world!

There's a saying which goes "You can take them out of China but you can never take China out of them!"
I've heard stories on how rude Chinese people can be. How they think they dominate the place wherever they go. Rachel said they are known as the ADAPTORS! They can just adapt to anywhere they go, even in foreign land far away from their Mainland!

Rach also told me that Chinatown in NY is the dirtiest place in the city and she concluded that Chinatown anywhere in the world is the dirtiest place to visit. Sigh......well, the only Chinatown I've been abroad is the one in Melbourne and I have to admit that it was pretty dirty when I visited.
The phone call left me ponder....are Chinese really dirty people as what claimed by most people?

Crime Crime Crime

What has got into the society nowadays? Sigh.....

Hubby, me, Maria and Yeoh were having dinner last Sunday when Maria told us about her colleague's traumatic experience dealing with a group of unscrupulous and heartless robbers.

This is a REAL drama told to Maria directly by the victim and his family.

Place - Sungai Buloh
Crime - Forced robbery by a group of 9 robbers!

How it happened - It was during midnight when a group of Indian ( I know I shouldnt be racist but it was indeed a dirty job done by these coloured monsters!) robbers banged loudly at the front gate of a bungalow house owned by (ironically!) an Indian family! It seemed these robbers were not afraid of anything as they repeatedly shouted at their victoms to open their front door and mind you, these bastards were armed with parangs, hammers and spanners! What surprised me when I heard the story is that the victims actually called the police upon seeing their attackers at the gate but it took the police a whole freaking 1 hours to arrive at the scene! By the time they arrived, the robbers were already gone with their victims' valuables and cars...not before injuring them. The head of the family needed a few stitches to the back of his head after being hit by the parang. There was a small girl (around 5 yrs old) in the house and she wasnt spared from the attackers as well! They hit her head with a spanner!
Another shocking info about this is that, the guard house is actually located less than 200m away from the house and no one seemed to notice the commotion when it took place!

I can just imagine the trauma the family went through and the post-trauma of the whole incident! I had goosebumps all over me after hearing such dramatic true incident. The thought of my own family being faced with such experience is enough to send shivers down my spine! WHY WHY WHY??????????????????????

That's one!

Another one.....
Happened just a few days ago and widely reported in the media yesterday.

‘Armed group ‘tailed mum’

PETALING JAYA: ......the son of a woman who died after being involved in an accident in Puchong said several men confronted his mother just before her death early yesterday morning.
Yew Yong Hon said he received a call around midnight from his mother Yek Yow Ngan, 51, who said her car rear windscreen had been smashed.
Hours later, he received another call from his mother saying that the front windscreen was smashed.
“After receiving the second call, I quickly rushed over from my house in Ampang with my girlfriend,” Yek said.
Yew claimed that when he arrived, his mother, a Nanyang Siang Pau employee, was surrounded by a group of men with parangs and iron rods at her house in Batu 8, Puchong.
“I got out of my car and yelled. They then fled,” he said.
Yew, tailed his mother, who was in her own car, to lodge a police report. However, along the way, they saw the group of men waiting by a car and motorcycle at the roadside.

Son’s sorrow: Yew mourning the death of his mother at the Kwong Tong funeral parlour yesterday evening. Offering their sympathies are state assemblyman for Kinrara Dr Kow Cheong Wei (centre) and Puchong MCA division chief Wong Hock Aun. Yek’s body was released for burial after a post mortem.“My mother sped off and I reversed my car to go another way. The group split into two and chased us. That’s when my mother and I got separated,” he said.
Yew said he managed to shake off his pursuers.
He then found his mother's car in an accident with another vehicle at Taman Bintang, near Bandar Kinrara. He brought Yek to Assunta Hospital.
“However, the hospital demanded RM10,000 for my mother’s operation but I only had RM250 with me. They made us wait an hour before transferring her to Hospital Kuala Lumpur,” he claimed.
Yek died three hours after she was admitted to HKL.
Meanwhile, Assunta Hospital said a medical officer had immediately attended to Yew's mother.
It said Yek was comatose restless and had suffered a heart attack. She had to be resuscitated and intubated, and needed four pints of blood.
However, when Yek was being prepared to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, Yew asked about charges.
“Hospital staff counselled that the estimated final bill could be more than RM10,000 in view of the severity of her injuries.
“The patient's family then requested for the patient to be transferred to a government hospital,” said the hospital.
It said the patient had incurred a bill of RM1,900 but only RM250 was paid.
“Assunta Hospital carried all emergency and necessary care and treatment for the patient and did not deny treatment or demand a deposit be paid before treatment,” it said, adding that all facts and information had been forwarded to the Health Ministry.
When contacted, Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid said police were unaware of the assault on Yek.
Those with information can call 03-8948-4822 or the nearest police station.

Sigh........when can there be an end to all these sad stories? Lives have been lost because of some heartless beasts who are such inconsiderate monsters! Where are their hearts/brains/feelings?
I curse them with all my heart that they will burn and rot in hell...but not before having their skin sliced and chopped into tiny pieces and thrown to the dogs! Even animals deserve better treatments than these beasts! How I wish to see them being thrown into a huge meat-mincer machine and see their blood all ozzing out with their mouth widely opened screaming for rescue! That was how they treated their victoms and how their victims felt when faced with these heartless creatures!
Gosh...I could go on and on man!

Pregnant, wedding, pregnant, wedding

Everyone around me is either getting pregnant or married this year.....Guess it's a good year to welcome a new addition into a family heh? baby/wife/husband/daughter in law/ son in law... ..etc...Now let's see my list of frens who are expecting changes in their lives.....

1. Samantha is due in May
2. Karen is due in August
3. Jacelyn is due in September
4. Sister in law is due in November

1. Ben's wedding in May
2. Brother in law and Cheryl's wedding in July (that's 2 different wedding)
3. Kristy's wedding in November

That's the info I've got so far. Am sure more to come.....

So with all the huss about people I'm closed with being pregnant especially, hubby is itching and giving me hints of trying for another baby this year. He said he'd love to have a daughter (if God permits) and as for me, I've always wanted to have a daughter. Guess, it's just a mother's wish to have at least a daughter in her life. Anyway, those close to me would know by now how my first pregnancy went. It was indeed a roller coaster ride when I had Zach ( I dont mean the morning/night sickness...more to that and it's got to do with genetic hiccups and all...long story tho..anyway, it turned out fine at the end and Zach came to this world as how we hoped he'd be) Well, the thought of going through that again really gives me the goosebumps. Trust me, no mothers deserve to go through such turmoil especially when she's most vulnerable during her pregnancy. It's not something anyone would wanna go through. Nevertheless, the thought of giving Zach another sibling is much more meaningful. Thus, my agreement to try for another one. Hopefully, (like the Muslim say, Insyaallah) I will be pregnant by end of this year and welcome a Rat baby next year. Hopefully with God's grace and mercy, I'll have a better and smoother pregnancy this time around.
Wish me luck....

Housewives DO work!

I was reading the papers the other day about a male journalist writing about how his expectation to become a househusband turned out to be a total opposite. You see, this writer wrote about his experience as a househusband caring for his young daughter who is autistic. That's beside the point. What is amusing about his article is that he was expecting to have a few hours of "ME" time a day, considering he is not working anymore but it turned out to be the exact opposite. He was in fact busier than he was in office and finally understood the fact that why most housewives always say that they are busier than working mothers! And to add in to his amusing piece, he even mentioned that he despised the sarcastic question poised to him and annoys most housewives - "What do you do all day?" It's a total slap in the face for most housewives as if to claim that "You seem to have nothing to do and you have all day to yourself!" and "You dont work. So what do you do most of the time?" Excuse me...may I beg to differ?!

Now let me state some thoughts from my mind. I've been a housewife for the past 3 years and still am. It was not a decision I made; in fact it was somehow made for me. I found out that I was pregnant after I left my last job and was in search for better opportunity. As a matter of fact, I was looking forward to starting a new career life when I noticed that my period was late and hence, pregnant! During my first month of pregnancy, I received a call from HP (Hewlett Packard) offering me a lucrative job as a Communication Executive. As much as I wanted to accept the job offer, I had to tell them the truth about my pregnancy, knowing very clearly that I might not get the job the minute I made the revelation. True enough, I never received any call from them after that. And then I had to hold back my plans to continue working until my baby is born. Then came another bombshell...my Philipino maid gave me a hell of a problem and then one problem after another......I was and still am stuck as a housewife. All for the sake of my son. I'm into part-time teaching now though. Ok, again...that's besides the point of my post this time.

What I'm annoyed, as I'm sure many other housewives are too is that people tend to have a stereotypical opinion that being a housewife is a bliss and that one should not complain being one. Ok, I'm not saying that I'm complaining but we, housewives are not as free as many people think we are. In fact, we work 24/7 and there is not such thing as a public holiday in our calendar. I often received remarks like;

"You are not working wat. You should be able to do this and that."

"You busy? You must be joking cos you are not working for goodness sake."

"Not free? What do you do all day (since you are not working)?"

"No time? But you are not working."

Excuse me......we might not be working as how others do in their offices.....but we DO work alright.......I mean...don't these people ever think that we housewives hold many jobs/positions at a same time? Look...we are:

1. Caregiver to our kids
2. HR manager cum supervisor - to our maids, who sometimes really give us a heck of a problem and have us breathe through fire in our lungs and throat!
3. Chef cum dietitian cum menu planner
4. Laundry manager - otherwise we'd have to kiss goodbye to our clothes should they land in the hands of the maid
5. Financial manager - bills, bills, bills...(though we might not be the one who earn the $$$..but still.....)
6. Production machine - it's easy to say but we are the ones who have to go through the agony of delivering babies.....dont get me wrong....ALL mother (working ones included) go through this as well.....
7. Story teller cum movie maker cum clown....entertainer of the house.
8. Wet 'marketeer' - it's not easy knowing what to buy from the butcher, fish monger, vege/fruit sellers..not to mention bargaining for the best price and ensuring that we are not being cheated.
9. Fashion consultant cum personal shopper cum bargain hunter
10. Etc. Etc. Etc...the list goes on and on....

Not too long ago the Women and Family Development Ministry suggested that housewives be given salaries for their roles in the families. I welcome the suggestion although it might be tough for certain families to abide by it. Well, come to think of it......a housewife's salary can never be measured and we can never come out with a proper figure to fill in the blanks for SALARY:____________. Another suggestion reckoned that husbands whose wives are housewives should contribute some EPF into their wives' account for their unlimited contributions to the family and subsequently give her a sense of financial security when she reaches the retiring age. Again, this is indeed an applaudable suggestion. But how many husbands in our society would actually carry out this move? I have to admit that some actually do. For example my beloved husband. And I'm really thankful that I have such an understanding husband who never seems to take me for granted although I'm not the one who brings in money into the family. But to have a peace of mind at work for beloved hubby, knowing that THE wife is at home watching over the safety of beloved son - PRICELESS!

Well, I'm not saying that my role in the family should be acknowledged but I just cant stand those remarks from insensitive people who undermine the roles of a housewife. Sometimes, it's not just the remarks which irk me...but certain obvious actions do show their insensitive presumptions on us. What I want these people to know is that please...please show some respect to us housewives. We are not trying to gauge any recognition...just bear in mind that being a housewife is not as easy as most people might think. Just compare a kid who goes to the babysitter and a kid who's brought up by his own mother. I dont have to elaborate further......BIG difference.

Sigh...I can never find an ending to this particular post cos there is just so much to write about. But I guess I'll have to end it somehow otherwise this post might never be published.

....another piece of my mind....adios
