Hello 2012....

Hello there 2.0.1.2....

Was looking back at my blog and noticed that i only had FOUR posts in 2.0.1.1!
FOUR freaking posts!!!!! ok....so....one would think that "She's not freaking working and yet she sounded so busy!"
Well...truth is...I WAS and WILL ALWAYS BE BUSY! I'm a busy mom! so what??? Yes...by choice and I'm happy about it!
I'm not only a mother as per say...I'm also a personal chauffeur, a chef, personal trainer (dont ask why), nurse, and the list goes on.....and most of all, I'm A WIFE :)

well, I'm kinda disappointed with myself tho....cos I once vowed to blog more often and to be actively blogging again...like how I used to back in those days.....
anyway.....the new year has just begun and I shall make it my resolution to blog more often.....tho I dont guarantee tht resolution might come true as the days go by......hehehehe

Anyway.....lets look back on the events that took place/happened to me last year....

It didnt start of smoothly I would say cos I got into some medical scare with my own health and was in and out the hospitals numerous times for all those checks, tests and treatments to get things confirmed and reassured.....no worries, I'm all fine now.. :)

Some friendship ties were broken and they remain the same til today.....I was down and I was sad....but life has to go on and I chose to live mine happily - thus a promise not to dwell much in the past and look forward to the future instead.....

However year 2011 ended with a few memorable events I would say......well, thats what life is about isnt it? with its ups and downs....

ok....pics say a thousand words....be prepared for a loooooooooooooooooooog post full of pics from MY 2011!

We brought my parents on our maiden trip to CHINA in April 2011! Yes! Our first time ever (hubby & I) stepping on the soil of the 'motherland' of our ancestors! Mom & dad had the time of their lives for it was dad's dream to visit the Beijing and we made it all happened for him *getting emo*. And as a bonus, we also visited Shanghai!
*pic above was taken at the back gate of Forbidden City*

How can one not visit this iconic landmark of Beijing? - The Forbidden City - home to a few emperors & empresses and thousands of concubines! Crazy emperors and their obnoxious lifestyles!

:)

My boy on top of the steps to the Temple of Heaven - a temple built by the emperors in hope that they'd be closer to God when they pray and meditate! Hah!

At the garden at Temple of Heaven - the whole place is MASSIVELY HUGE!

The Great Wall of China!

Dad's beaming with happiness upon seeing his dream materialised....Love Love Love this pic!

And Roy turns 3 in Beijing!

The Bird Nest built specially for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Yu Garden - SHANGHAI!

One of the many lakes in Yu Garden

One of my heart melters of all time....love this shot!

The two heart-melters of all time.....These are the 2 bosses of my life! They rule my life, they dictate my life, they ARE MY life! They mightt drive me up the walls at times, but I WILL NEVER replace them for anything in this world!

The iconic tower (forgot its name) @ The Bund - Shanghai

On top of the tower which is made of glass! Looking back, we were actually at great risk! It was over 200 ft fr sea level! Look at those tiny cars underneath!

The Bund - Shanghai
Ok.....enough of pics from China.....

Club Med Cherating! our 2nd time there! - September 2011

Cousin Lily's wedding in Nov - 6 pretty maidens of the Yeoh-Ngew clan out of which 4 are mothers :D

My #1 boss! My LOVE! My other half!

My baby brother is finally 21!!!!! - Dec 2011

On our annual family trip overseas and we chose HK ...yes! again...this is our 2nd trip to Disneyland AND the city!

in 2011 when Zach was 6.5yo and.....

this was when he was 4 back in 2009!

Our family portrait with Mickey & Minnie in 2009....

Our family portrait with Donald in 2011!

With Goofy back in 2009 and 2011 (his growth and height are obviously measured here on Goofy! haha)! Roy didnt hav the chance cos he was in his stroller (yes, he was only a 14 month-old baby then who hasnt started walking just yet) most of the time hiding in the air-conditioned cafe because it was an extremely hot summer @ Disneyland when we visited back in 2009!

Not anymore!!!! Both boys having the time of their lives this trip! They especially adore Goofy!

They refused to hav a pic taken with Minnie tho she was just a few steps away from Pluto simple because "Minnie is only for girls!"...sigh....there goes mommy's desire to be near Minnie :(

Daddy getting all smoochy and romantic.... :)

Christmas @ Pacific Place - a mall below where we stayed in the city....
That pic sums up our almost-perfect trip to HK that time if not for the unfortunate incident where my wallet was pickpocketed from my bag! Was in Tung Chung for some shopping after checking out from Disneyland hotel when my wallet was unexpectedly stolen from my bag! Culprit used my credit cards and made some jewelry purchases worth almost RM20k! Anyway, those charges hav since been reversed by the banks and I/m not liable for those purchases. However the roaming phone calls I made to report my loss to the bank cost me a whopping RM270! And the bank charged me RM250 for whatever process fee required for the investigation of my fraud case. All in all, I not only lost my beloved wallet; the cash inside; I had to fork out an extra RM520 bucks for nothing! I curse whoever who took my wallet to hav continuous mishaps in their lives - one after another! Yes! I can be mean and I can be venomous!

Hubby hit the BIG 40 in Dec 21, 2011! We held a small party in a lil Italian restaurant and he was surrounded by all his beloved family members and a couple of good friends to celebrate his entering into the new phase in his life......

Turning 40 in style...as posed by his chipmunk #2....

A proud daddy of 2 at 40!

And my own daddy dearest turns 61 on Dec 29!

ok...that pretty sums up my first post for 2012.....more to come I hope ...yes....more often too!

Cheers to a great and better 2012 for me and all of you!

C, D, ..E?

C - CANCER...
D - DEATH...
E - END???

those are the three words which prompted me to ponder on the things in life that we should look heavier upon.....
woke up to a Monday morning with a news of hubby's ex-collegemate's loss in her battle against leukaemia...she was only 35. A sweet friend, I was told; devoted and dedicated mother to a 4 year old boy....she fought a good 10 months battle before drawing her final breathe, surrounded by family members....
loved by many, remembered by all, she was truly an inspiration to all who knew her...
few articles were written about her by her close friends, 2 of which published in The Star a week after her passing....

Then a week later, came another news from hubby again - one of his friends' friend passed away......also from leukaemia, after only a 2 months battle with the disease....he was only 46, father to a young teenager and had so much in life to look forward to....

Then another news of hubby's business partner who was recently diagnosed with having the very early stage of prostate cancer. The C word is undoubtedly scary..............most of the time, it spells DEADLY....

Mom's friend, whom I grew up knowing as one of her closest and bestest buddies from work was also recently diagnosed with 3rd stage of lung cancer.........

All these news came pouring in within 2 weeks!

That really got me thinking......yes! we all know that death is unvoidable....but how can we make the most of our time in the universe....what matters most? who? why? when? thousands of questions ran through my head........we are all here for a certain period of time and there isnt such thing called permanent. whatever that we do are temporary....so how can we make it significant? memorable? remarkable?

Life in the universe is indeed short. Making the most out of it has become a mission for many. What we do today shall bear no regrets tomorrow - thats an aim many of us would wanna have...but how?
Living it on a daily basis like there's tomorrow. "Live like we're dying" - Kris Allen
That song was never an eye opener to me until the recent events which took place...it got me thinking; real hard........Live like we're dying....
But I'm a mother.....I have my children to think about....hundreds, if not thousands of questions have been popping in my head regarding my children's welfare should I leave this universe one day.....
But there'll never be answers to many of those questions....I'm just gonna accept this particular rule of life.

Death is inevitable *period*

Hence:-

  • Rejoice in life! Share and remember those happy moments....

  • Cherish every moment that you have with your loved ones!

  • Live without regrets...

  • Bear no grudges against no one...for hatred only bring sorrow...

  • Dont hold back in whatever intention that you may have for chances dont come too often...

...I will try my very best to walk the talk... how about you?

Wake up call...

The last one week and few days back have been somewhat a wake up call for me....a wake up call in :-

- knowing who my true friends are
- realising who care for me the most
- knowing what and who are the most important ones in my life
- realising what my life priorities should be
- narrowing down the focus of my life
- redefining what I want and what I'll do in my life
- realising health is indeed a treasure in one's life and that it should not be taken granted for in whatsoever ways......

I truly and deeply understand the true meaning of relationships with family and friends. It's somehow unfortunate that I found these out the way I did but it's better to realise it than not at all.......I've come to realise the priorities in my life and that the truth is, I cant please everyone and vice versa. Nonetheless, I've tried doing my part in holding whatever ties I have with those in my life and should they not hold onto it longer, I shall just let them go knowing that I've done my best and I've given my all in ensuring those ties are strongly bound.......

WORST week of my life...

The 4th week of January 2010 is by far...(I hope it stops there) the worst week of my life...
First off - my turbulent and traumatic experience from my recent pap smear result, which as not ended for the results of my biopsy will only be out next Tue.

Then it was on Thursday night that I had one of the worst fight with hubby throughout our 7 years of marriage. It all started early in the morning with some misunderstanding in the car which led to a cold and silent war throughout the day.....and finally catapulted to a very nasty exchange of words right before bed time......It was so bad that I think our voices were heard by our neighbours, not to mention our helper who sleeps in a room near to ours. The only thing missing was physical fight! haha!

Well, we managed to kiss and make up after about 45 mins of exchange of harsh, hurtful and poisonous words.....needless to say, I woke up with 2 extremely swollen eyes - a result of crying and pouring of gallons of tears during the exchange of words with beloved hubby.....

Guess my unstable emotions since the beginning of the week contributed to the start of war with hubby.......praying and hoping real hard that we need not hav to go thru such roller coaster in our marriage ever again....it's definitely not worth it at all to fight, especially when the fight revolves around misinterpretations which involves other not-so-significant people in our lives.....

Well, something good did result from our war though......we're more loving to each other now than we ever did and we've made a pact to fully understand each other's feelings before jumping into negative conclusions........

....still praying hard for tomorrow's outcome at the hospital.........

Looking back...

Christmas came....Christmas went.... just like that.

We had a small party on Christmas eve at home with only family members and I must say it was not a bad one afterall *wink*

Had great food, wine, wine and wine.......and of course the company of family members made it all sweet and merry. The pressies were alright....although I've yet to get one from hubby....haha....We shall hav a shopping trip tomorrow (New Year's day) and hopefully, I'll come home with something I wish for! *wink* Hubby's gonna scratch his head pretty hard! hehe

New year's here...in fact...it's tomorrow! So, as usual, it's time for us to look back to the past year and reflect on the events that took place. As for me, I'd consider 2008 quite a fruitful and eventful year because much have happened and it changed my life somehow or rather.

Event #1.
I gave birth to my 2nd son, Roy in April. Another addition to the Goh-Yeoh brood. Now, I've got 2 HUGE responsibilities to my shoulders. But it's a such a joy to be able to bring beautiful lives into the world and nurture them with all the love and care as parents. My 2 sons are my greatest love (ahem, ok. apart from hubby, that is) and it makes me shudder to think anything bad should happen to them. I guess that's a mother's natural instinct. Afterall, a mother's duty is to protect her brood! My new year's wish is for the good health of my 2 wonderful kids (and all my loved ones) and may Zach & Roy grow up to be fine young men and bring cheers and happiness to the society. Ok.....I better stop sounding like an old woman~

Event #2.
We moved into our new nest and that indeed made a lot of difference to us in terms of our lifestyle and the surroundings of our new neighbourhood are just fascinating and calming. We just love the serenity here and thought that it's one of the best decisions we ever made in purchasing a property in this area. The kids love it here too! Not to mention friends and family members who visited and shall visit us more often, we hope !

Event #3.
Hubby and I got our eyes lasik-ed! Yup, to think back that we actually got the guts to go thru such surgery and all the risk involved. Well, we went thru it and now we are glad that we did it! The convenience and breeze of not wearing our specs/contact lens anymore just made it all worth the risk taken! Hubby is glad that he can finally get the sunglasses of his choice without having to have the 'eyesight power' coated onto the lens and restricted to only limited choice of sunglasses for that purpose. He could simply grab one from the shelf and wear it there and then! It was indeed another best decision we both made. To have clearer vision for year 2009! haha

Ok. Those events are the major ones that happened...of course there were some tiny, miny events too, which I dont think it's important enough to be mentioned here. And enough of the past.....so what's next for 2009? I've got a couple of thoughts/plans for the coming year and hope that they will turn out the way I expect them to. I shall try not to make any resolutions though. (except for #4. hehe) Only simple plans which I hope to make them happen.

#1. Start my own business. There've been a couple of business which ran thru my mind (and hubby's too) for quite some time. Wine, boutique, franchise business on beauty products, fast food, cafeteria, housing projects, just to name a few. Hope I'll be able to blog about the success of at least one of the mentioned business. Wish me luck!

#2. Beautify my garden. Ok. You dont need much plan to do that. But I hope I'll be able to put in some passion into turning my garden into a small sanctuary where we can enjoy the tranquility of nature in our very own home. How? Plant more trees and flowers? We shall see the magic of my creativity. Will blog abt it!

#3. Be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, friend.... Ok. This sounds more like a resolution than a plan now. Whatever.

#4. My resolution every year - Slim down! ....hahaha....I know it's not gonna be easy but I'll try. Sigh. Still a few more kgs to shed. No excuse of being pregnant twice though. Look at Victoria Beckham! Urgh!!!!!

OK. I better stop planning or else I'll be depressed when all these dont happen!

Here's a toast to a better and fruitful year!

May all turns out well for everyone!

Party Smart, people!

Remember: Safety First!

Have fun and see u all in 2009!

Reflection - Jan 29, 2007

I was at a wedding dinner of a former uni mate and caught up with the rest of my uni friends there. Well, we were seated on the same table and got a full 3 hours of catching ups and fooling around. Time seems to be playing on the fast-forward button and everyone seems to grow much much older but wiser and moved on to new phases of their lives.

Cheryl and David are getting married in July....that adds up another married classmate to the already existing 3 (Me, Nat and Martin) in the list...and still counting.......

Gone are the days when the only things we talk about were "Where are you studying?"; "Where do you hangout during the uni holidays?"; the latest updates on assignments; who goes out with who (well, we still ask this question every now and then); "What are your plans after graduation?"; "Where is the latest hangout place around campus?"; ....and other not-so life-enriching questions....well, some were but the present seems to be more realistic than those days when hello kitty and prom nights played a big hoo-hah in college!

Now the questions are mostly; "Where are you working now?"; "When is the big day?"; "Did you have a difficult labour? (ok, that was shot at me at the moment for being the only one in the circle to have a child)"; "Where do you think I can the best deal for wines for my wedding?"; "Damn...the toll rise has added much much more expenses to my monthly budget!"; "What do you think of the latest case on the 2 journalist bloggers who are being sued for posting controversial topics?".....ya da ya da ya da........a more realistic scenario of the real life as compared to the days when we lived on allowances from our beloved parents.

Now we have hopped onto the era where every single cent counts and no more such thing as "Let me ask permission from my parents." I'm not saying that we have ceased asking permissions from our parents on the things we do...but now it's more like "Let me inform my parents and see what they think." or "Let me discuss with my gf/bf/wife/husband." - another major hop onto the newer phase of life....

This might be a boring post but it has been on my mind for the past weeks after I tried recalling what has taken place for the past year and realised that my life is in the fast-forward mode where everything seems to happen in flashes and leave no time for reflections. Hence I have come to realise that cherishing the present is vital and procrastination should be avoided at all cost!
